Transportation: Volunteer drivers provide rides to and from medical appointments in Kernersville, Winston Salem, and surrounding areas.
Friendly Caller: Volunteers provide weekday phone calls from home or the office to homebound recipients for a “friendly hello” and “check-in”.
Handy Person: Volunteers provide assistance with minor home repairs inside or outside the home.
Visitation: Volunteers provide short visits for socialization (1-2 hours) and/or longer visits for relieving family caregivers (1-4 hours) once per week.
Personal Shopper: Volunteers pickup, fulfill, & deliver groceries, prescriptions, and food pantry requests.
Project Joy Arranger: Volunteers procure and arrange freshly donated flowers to those suffering illness or loss, celebrating milestones, or just needing a “lift”.
Project Joy Delivery Driver: Volunteers deliver freshly arranged flowers to the homes of those suffering illness or loss, celebrating milestones, or just needing a “lift”.
Program Volunteers/Instructors: Volunteers needed to assist with program set up in our office and/or utilizing a certain skill or hobby to present as an offered program.
Bill Radisch Computer Center: Volunteers needed to offer one on one computer, tablet, laptop, & phone operational education and assistance.
Equipment Delivery: Volunteers assist with the delivery or pick up of our durable medical equipment which includes canes, walkers, wheelchairs, and knee scooters.
Income Tax Preparation: Volunteers assist with annual income tax return preparation appointments from February through mid-April in partnership with AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program (training required & provided).
Miscellaneous Office: Volunteers needing to assist with various office tasks including organization, filing, running administrative errands, writing cards for Project Joy, making copies, data entry, creating documents, special projects, making phone calls, updating addresses/phone numbers, etc.
Mailing: Volunteers assist with small or large mailings, stuffing envelopes, making labels, stamping and sealing envelopes.
Outreach: Volunteers assist with outreach and fundraising efforts locally around the community by delivering event flyers, monthly newsletters, marketing materials, as well as seeking speaking engagement opportunities.
Special Events: Volunteers assist with special programs or events by supporting staff with registration, information booths/tables, program set up, and various other tasks.
