Job Title:
Senior Enrichment Center Office Volunteer
Skills Needed:
- Love and appreciation for older or disabled adults
- Patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic attitude
- Willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to accurately take and give messages, take reservations
- Familiarity with education and enrichment opportunities and classes
- Communicate effectively with public in person and on phone
- Carry out assigned clerical duties i.e. copying, filing, mailings
Duties:
- Greet visitors and participants
- Answer telephone
- Take messages for Director and Program Assistant
- Record reservations for activity and program participants in RSVP book
- Provide public with accurate information about location, activities and The Shepherd’s Center’s other ministries, outreach, assistance and referrals to and for other agencies
- Call program participants at the direction of Director
- Make coffee, set out drinks and snacks for scheduled activities
- Assist in set-up and clean-up of equipment, materials, and refreshments at activities
- Fold, seal, label, and sort mail and bulk mail pieces for mailings as requested
- Assist with light to moderate filing, copying, and typing (computer skills appreciated but not necessary)
Location of Duties:
Senior Enrichment Center, Basement of Paddison Library, Kernersville
Time Required:
Schedule agreed upon by volunteer and Senior Center Director
Training / Preparation:
Training provided by program coordinator or other Shepherd’s Center designee. Additional updates or additional training as needed and determined by Senior Enrichment Center Director or The Shepherd’s Center staff.
