Skills Needed:
- Love and appreciation for older or disabled adults
- Patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic attitude
- Willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Communicate effectively with the elderly and disabled
- Valid NC Drivers License
- Safe driving record
- Use of volunteer’s vehicle
Duties:
- Safely transport older or disabled adults to and from medical appointments, and/or errands assigned
- Destinations may most often include, but are not limited to, Kernersville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point. Drivers may choose to drive locally to their preferred areas in the Triad
- Collect adequate service recipient information i.e. telephone number, directions to home and destination
- Call the service recipient upon acceptance of assignment to assure older or disabled person of your arrival time
- Communicate with The Shepherd’s Center Staff regarding challenges, issues, and questions, and availability
- Report to office the number of hours spent on each trip
Location of Duties:
To and from Service Recipient’s home and Triad area destinations
Time Required:
At the convenience of the volunteer
Training / Preparation:
Training provided by program coordinator or other Shepherd’s Center designee. Additional updates or additional training as needed and determined by program coordinator or The Shepherd’s Center staff.

Program Coordinator or designated Shepherd’s Center Staff Member
